New Brown Tanalised (Pressure Treated) Railway Sleepers £21.60 £20.40 inc. VAT

Our brown railway sleepers are a high quality softwood that’s undergone tanalisation, a process that involves impregnating wood under high pressure with TANALITH® E and a small amount of brown dye. This treatment ensures longevity, with our sleepers able to last many years exposed to the elements. These sleepers are both child and pet friendly unlike alternative products that may have been treated with creosote or similarly toxic chemicals. They’re also the ideal way to construct vegetable planters in your kitchen garden or allotment, as the treatment does not leach into the soil.

Railway sleepers 2.4 m

Dimensions of our sleepers are 2.4m (2400mm) long, 200mm high and 100mm wide, with a tolerance of c. 10mm.

New railway sleepers are regularly shaped and sized, with clean edges, unlike reclaimed sleepers which are often damaged, impregnated with creosote, unpleasant to handle and sometimes difficult to install. This makes them the obvious choice for owners of modern properties who would like to incorporate softer, organic material into the design of outdoor spaces while maintaining crisp, straight lines. If you’d prefer a more rustic aesthetic it’s a straightforward process to refinish or roughen the edges while still benefiting from the advantages of tanalisation over more toxic processes. After 3-6 months of weathering, the sleepers will acquire a silver-grey finish complimentary to the design of your outdoor area.

Railway sleeper garden edging

Ideally suited to use in domestic gardens whilst also being hardwearing enough for commercial settings, our railway sleepers are often used for lawn or garden edging, raised flower beds, allotment vegetable planters, steps, small retaining walls and even garden furniture. Some of our customers have used our sleepers to construct raised platforms for lawns and patios.

Sleepers available for just £17/ea

At just £17/ea (ex. VAT) our railway sleepers are some of the most affordable available in the North of England. Where competitors offer cheaper sleepers, these tend not to be pressure treated to the same standard as the product we supply.

Delivery will take place using a modern grab truck that’s able to place the product right where it’s needed, depending on access and the conditions on site when we attend.

2 reviews for New Brown Tanalised (Pressure Treated) Railway Sleepers

  1. Damon

    Location: Prestwich

Took delivery of twenty sleepers for a retaining wall. Had no problems at all with any of them, all spot on straight and true. As with any outdoor timber, time will tell on longevity. But I’d order these from NW Aggregates again without hesitation.

  2. Geoff Brayford

    Location: Burnley

New railways sleepers as described, ideal for building raised patio. Listed as brown but we stained them darker to match other wood finish in the garden and they took the stain nicely. Very pleased.
